Sunset In Casablanca

This picture was taken at the Mosque of Hassan II in Casablanca, during the first day of our journey. The sun was setting over the ocean and illuminated the mosque with beautiful light. I believe this photograph captures the essence of our trip because it displays how Morocco is going through a very transitional and beneficial time. This picture shows the heavy influence of Islam through the architecture of the mosque. The woman, while still dressed in traditional garb, publically holds the man’s hand as they walk towards the future still embracing their Islamic culture while the sun sets on antiquated ways of life.
